Course description

The course in Anglo-hispanos discursos e imagenes en internet is dedicated to students who want to develop their Spanish by talking about Anglo-Hispanic issues and contexts, making stories with images on the internet, linking stories and images with Anglo-Hispanic contexts.

Course objectives

In this course, we will discuss and show various ways of presenting images and narratives. Students can see and understand (and practice) the mechanisms of constructing images and discourses of various kinds. The images and discourses found in the Anglo-Hispanic world (i.e. the Anglo-Saxon and Hispanic world separately and Anglo-Hispanic world together) are highly developed and have a large global audience. At the same time, one objective of the course is to improve students' oral expression in Spanish and English. Thus, we practice: Spanish and English, oral narration and body language, talking about Anglo-Hispanic issues and contexts, making stories with images on the internet, linking stories and images with Anglo-Hispanic contexts.

En este curso se van a discutir y mostrar varios modos de presentación de imágenes y narraciones. Los estudiantes pueden ver y comprender (y practicar) los mecanismos de la construcción de imágenes y discursos de varios tipos. Las imágenes y los discursos que se encuentran en el mundo anglo-hispano (es decir: el mundo anglosajón e hispano separadamente y anglo-hispano unidos) están muy desarrollados y tienen una gran audiencia global. Al mismo tiempo, un objetivo del curso es mejorar la expresión oral de los estudiantes en castellano y en inglés. Así, practicamos: el castellano y el inglés, la narración oral y la expresión corporal, el hablar de asuntos y contextos anglo-hispanos, hacer narraciones con imágenes en internet, vincular narraciones e imágenes con los contextos anglo-hispanos.

1. Active participation in classes - 40% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4)

2. Video presentation/online presentation/in class presentation on a specific topic - 30% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4)

3. Other, advanced forms possible (e.g. recording a video clip based on academic material) in the case of willingness to achieve a higher grade - 30% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4,5)
