The goal of this course is to improve students' language fluency at C1 level in correlation to the usage of vocabulary and structures characteristic of more formal language registers. |
Pełny opis: |
The main purpose of the course is to improve the students’ C1-level competence. Through practical analysis of exam-oriented tasks with reference to the structures and vocabulary of English, the course guides the students towards their Practical English Exam. The course focuses on: - developing students' command of vocabulary with special reference to formal language registers, - understanding authentic texts while reading and paraphrasing, - improving the students' knowledge of English grammar and structures used at C1 level, - developing exam task-solving techniques. The course explores mainly such fields as: Grammatical tenses; nouns, agreement and articles; determiners and quantifiers; adverbs and adjectives; comparison; verb patterns; adverbial clauses; vocabulary: cities, urban development, personal histories, the arts, migrations, gender issues, health, media, the environment. |
