Course description Graduate seminar 3 is a continuation of Graduate seminar 2 and involves still further work between the student and the supervisor of MA thesis on the development and then finalisation of the students' own academic research and writing of MA thesis on a selected topic within SLA in English philology. |

Course objectives - finalisation of the student's work on own research for the purpose of MA thesis - applying well known interpretative strategies and critical skills - further practice in academic writing when working with the theory and research relevant to the student''s research topic - finalisation of MA thesis -------------------- Course content depends on the MA supervisor and individual student needs ---------------------------- Methods of instructions: mentoring, supervising, tutoring, discussion, extensive reading and writing, ICT tools/e-learning MSTeams |

Learning outcomes according to PQR 2019 Knowledge The student knows and understands 1. the place and significance of the philological science among humanities and its analytical and methodological tools (k_W01/P7S_WG) 2. the role of English as a cognitive means and a tool used for studying (k_W03/P7S_WG) 3. a wide range of methods of analysis and interpretation of culture products analysed in the studied disciplines, including theory and research schools within English philology (k_W04/P7S_WG) 4. principles of copyright and its protection in relation to various cultural products, in particular in the field of English philology (k_W08/P7S_WK) Skills The student can 5. apply critical interpretation of gained knowledge when writing on their research results in their MA thesis (k_U02/P7S_UW) 6. refer to arguments and draw logical conclusions using appropriate methods and expended tools (k_U03/P7S_UW) 7. use appropriate tools and methods to analyse and discuss their research problem with their supervisor (k_U06/P7S_UK) Social competence The student is ready to 8. participate in various forms of cultural life for the research purposes (k_K04/P7S_KO) 9. take the ethical responsibilities of the critical research work (the question of plagiarism) (k_K05/P7S_KR) |

Forms of evalutions of learning outcomes 1. Active participation during classes - 45% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4,8) 2. Own research chapter in the MA thesis - 55% of the final grade (outcome 3,4,5,6,7,9) pass at 60% of the final grade |
