1 ECTS – 30 hours: class participation,

3 ECTS – 90 hours preparation for in-class discussion, extensive vocabulary and grammar exercises with direct participation of the teacher

Course description

The course which is a continuation of the course Language Skills - Vocabulary and Structures 2, includes advanced grammar and academic vocabulary-oriented activities. It aims at confirming students general level of English and preparing them for their C1-Level Practical English Exam - Use fo English part.

Course objectives

The main purpose of the course is to establish their C1/C2-level competence. The course focuses on:

- developing students' command of vocabulary with special reference to the academic discourse,

- strengthening students' understanding of authentic texts while reading and paraphrasing,

- improving students' knowledge of English grammar and structures used on the C1/C2 level,

- developing exam task-solving techniques.

Forms of evaluation of learning outcomes:

1. Active participation - 20% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4,5,6)

2. Tests in advanced grammar and vocabulary of English - 80% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4)

To get a credit students need to pass all tests.

Marks are granted according to the following framework:

60 -67% 3.0

68 - 75% 3.5

76 - 83% 4.0

84 - 91% 4.5

92 - 100% 5.0
