Course description:

In this lecture we discuss basic philosophical: terms, disciplines, ideas and problems, especially those within ancient, British, and American philosophy, for example: Plato's Allegory of the Cave, hedonism, Stoicism, wisdom, prejudices and mistakes (F. Bacon's Idols), utilitarianism, and pragmatism.

Course objectives:

- understanding significance of the philosophy among humanities

- developing analytical skills of philosophical texts

Practical aspects of philosophy (critical thinking, communication skills, etc)

Some philosophical disciplines

Plato's Allegory of the Cave

Greek concepts and ideas (Arche, Panta Rhei, Eudaimonia, Kalokagathia)

Kant

British Philosophy (e.g. Bacon's Idols)

American Philosophy (pragmatism)

Forms of evaluation of learning outcomes:

1. Active participation during the classes - 30% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3)

2. Digital activities (video clip recording on the course's topics) - 20% of the final grade (outcome 1,2.3)

3. Written test - 50% of the final grade (outcome 1,2)
