2 ECTS – 60 hours: preparation to lectures and the final exam (readings) with direct participation of the teacher

The main goal of the course is acquainting students with the basic terminology, selected research methods, and interpretive strategies commonly applied in cultural studies.

1. Culture: origin & basic terms.

2. Main themes in approaching culture.

3. Popular culture: definitions.

4. Media & music production.

5. Hyperreality and simulacra in postmodern culture.

6. Popular music and technology in the 2020s.

7. Culture industries – beyond the Frankfurt School.

8. Advertising & commercial culture.

9. New directions & programming in tv streaming services.

10. Studying youth subcultures & scenes.

1. Written on-site exam (at the university) - 100% of the final grade (outcomes 1-5).
