Course description

This course in General English - vocabulary and structures 1 offers students the opportunity to study English vocabulary at C1 level in a variety of General English practical situations and topics. Students also revisit grammar structures which are expanded and developed to a higher level giving new opportunities for communication in the language. The course supports the students in their preparation for self-study C1 exam.

Course objectives:

--expanding knowledge of vocabulary and grammar at C1 level

--using vocabulary and grammar in communication in a wide variety of --situations, topics and registers.

--expanding exam-level language knowledge and understanding exam tasks

--preparing for C1 self-study exam in the aspects of vocabulary and structures -------------

Course content:

Vocabulary lists divided by topic.

Vocabulary exercises.

Understand vocabulary from texts.

Grammar structures revisited and explained.

Forms of evaluation of learning outcomes:

1. Active participation - 40% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4,5,6,7)

2. Tests at the end of each unit - up to 40% of the final grade (outcome 1,3,4,5,6,7)

3. End of the semester test - 20% of the final grade (outcome 1,3,4,5,6,7)

Final Grading Framework:

2.0 (Fail): 0-59%

3.0 (Average): 60-68%

3.5 (Average Plus): 69-74%

4.0 (Good): 75-84%

4.5 (Good Plus): 85-92%
