Course description: The course in General English - integrated skills 1 helps students revise and extend their knowledge of various aspects of English grammar. A wide range of exercises is used including word formation, paraphrasing, filling in gaps in texts, completing sentences and sentence transformations in order to improve their speaking, writing, reading and listening skills. Students learn how to implement selected constructions and language patterns in their written and spoken performances. Students practise proper use of tenses, passive voice, modal verbs, conditional sentences, unreal past constructions, time clauses, relative clauses, adjectives, adverbs, nouns, verbs and reported speech. The course supports the students in their preparation for self-study C1 exam. |

Course objectives: --improving general command of English at C1 level. --extending knowledge of various grammatical structures, phrases and expressions --developing fluency in written and spoken form at C1 proficiency level --developing reading and listening skills at C1 proficiency level. --preparing for C1 self-study exam ----------- Course content: grammar focus: tenses, passive voice, modal verbs, conditional sentences, unreal past constructions, time clauses, relative clauses, adjectives, adverbs, nouns, verbs and reported speech vocabulary focus: related to a variety of topics reading practice listening practice writing practice speaking practice -------------- Methods of instruction/ forms of classroom activity: language tasks, individual work, pair work, group work, discussion, writing, reading tasks, listening tasks, analysis of examples, test taking techniques, ICT tools/MSTeams |

Metody i kryteria oceniania: |
Forms of evaluation of learning outcomes: 1. Active participation - 10% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4,5,6,7) 2. Four mini tests each marked with a plus (+) (passing at 60% and more) or a minus (–) (not passing = less than 60%) - up to 30% of the final grade (outcomes 1,2,3,4,5,6,7) Scoring of the mini tests (4 pluses = 5,0; 3 pluses = 4,5; 2 pluses = 4,0; 1 plus = 3,5) 3. End of the semester test - 60% of the final grade (outcomes 1,2,3,4,5,6,7) Scoring of the final test: Grade 2.0 (fail) – 0-59% Grade 3.0 (average) – 60-67% Grade 3.5 (plus average) – 68-75% Grade 4.0 (good) – 76-83% Grade 4.5 (plus good) – 84-91% Grade 5.0 (very good) – 92-100% pass at 60%pf the final grade |
