Course description: The course is designed to continue to raise students’ language accuracy and fluency and general spoken proficiency (towards C1) as regards: - understanding of spoken language, broadening the range of vocabulary, - spontaneous speaking, including sufficient fluency and pronunciation precision, - flexible and situationally appropriate usage of language in speaking, - correct use of segmental and suprasegmental features of native-like varieties of English. Students are supported in their preparation to self-study C1 exam. |

Course objectives: - make students aware of the importance of accurate pronunciation in English - develop speaking and communication skills through discussion in groups and individual presentations; - improve fluency and the ability to lead the conversation; - develop skills for the use of English at C1 level. ---------------------- Course content: - articulation rules in segmental and suprasegmental units; - the notion of intonation and its patterns; - native and non-native like accents; - interference errors in pronunciation. ----------------------- Methods of instruction/ forms of classroom activity: problem-solving: classic problem-solving, situational; repetitive practice: a range of phonetic exercises and practice performed individually, in pairs, or in a group. practical listening exercises, individual and/or group project (take-home assignments, presentations), discussion, ICT tools /MSTeams |

Forms of evaluation of learning outcomes 1. a written test – 50% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,5) 2. active class participation – 25% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4,5) 3. individual oral presentation – 25% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,4,5) pass at 60% of the final grade |
