Course description

The course is a continuation of writing courses in the previous semesters. It is designed to develop students writing skills at C1 level.

Course objectives:

The main aim of the course is to develop writing skills through doing individual and group exercises, analyzing English texts and sample essays, as well as producing well-organized, stylistically and grammatically correct texts.

Introduction to business writing

Writing for specific purposes and audiences – revision

Analyzing layouts of different business letters

Composing a variety of business letters, memos, cover letters, CVs

Summaries – analysis

Peer feedback sessions

Methods of instruction/forms of classroom activity:

text analysis tasks, writing tasks, class discussion, individual work, ICT tools/MSTeams

Forms of evaluation of learning outcomes

1. Multiple-draft essay assignment - 40% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4)

2. Take-home assignments - 40% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4,5)

3. Active participation in-class - 20% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4,5)

Pass at 60% of the final grade
