Course description

The course is an introduction to the writing process in English. It aims at familiarising students with its elements and helps them improve their writing skills in English at B2/B2+ level by analysing, planning, organising, and writing short paragraphs.

Course objectives:

The main aim of the course is to develop writing skills through doing individual and group exercises, analyzing English texts and sample essays, as well as producing well-organized, stylistically and grammatically correct paragraphs. Exercises improve students' writing skills focusing on register, style and grammar.

Students are ready to:

Forms of evaluation of learning outcomes

1. Active participation in-class - 20% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,6)

2. Four short assignments - 40% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4,5)

3. Final in-class assignment - 40% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4)

To get a credit students need to pass all short assignments. The criteria to pass a written assignment at B2/B2+:

50-59% - 3,0

60-69% - 3,5

70-79% - 4,0

80-89% - 4,5

90-100%- 5,0

Passing the course at 60% of the final grade
