Course description The course supports students in developing their language fluency (according to the criteria suggested by CEFR for languages) in terms of raising their level of understanding of reading and listening texts at B2/B2+ level. |
| Pełny opis: |
Course objectives 1. training to understand different types of texts for reading and listening, 2. training reading for general information, specific information, reading for the understanding context of a message, 3. training listening for general information, detailed information, and basic understanding of different types of English pronunciation. ---------------- Course content Listening comprehension: training in listening to understand the meaning of a range of spoken material at B2/B2+ level, including interviews, radio broadcasts, speeches and talks, monologues, and conversations held by two or three people. Training in a range of listening techniques, for example: listening for general infor-mation, listening for specific information, matching, gap-filling, paraphrasing, note-taking. Reading comprehension: training in understanding different forms of written texts at B2/B2+ level such as: descriptions, narrative texts, critical opinions, reviews, etc. Training in a range of reading techniques, for ex-ample: matching, discriminating, selecting, grasping general or detailed information. ------------------ Methods of instruction/ forms of classroom activity: listening comprehension tasks, reading comprehension tasks, group work, online assignments, ICT tools/elearning option if needed |

Learning outcomes acc to PQR 2019 Knowledge Students know and understand: 1. selected types of registers in listened and written English texts at the B2/B2+ level, typical for public communication (k_W03/P6S_WG). 2. at an advanced level different methods to analyse and interpret reading and listening texts at B2/B2+ level (k_W04/P6S_WG). Skills Students can: 3. understand information in various reading and listening texts at B2/B2+ level, typical for public communication (k_U02/P6S_UW). 4. analyse different types of reading and listening texts at B2/B2+ level, using techniques of matching, gap-filling, guessing from context, skimming, and scanning (k_U07/P6S_UO). Social competences Students are ready to: 5. manage their own time and prioritise learning process in the field of studying written and listened texts at B2/B2+ level (k_K01/P6S_KK). |
| Metody i kryteria oceniania: |
Forms of evaluation of learning outcomes: 1. Active participation - 20% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4,5) 2. Mid-term test - 40% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4,5) 3. Final test - 40% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4,5) To get a credit students need to pass all tests. The criteria to pass a test at B2/B2+: 50-59% - 3,0 60-69% - 3,5 70-79% - 4,0 80-89% - 4,5 90-100%- 5,0 Passing the course at 60% of the final grade |
