2 ECTS – 60 hours: participation in classes

6 ECTS – 180 hours: preparation to classes, preparation to the end of semester test and doing homework with direct participation of the teacher

Course description

The course is designated to English and Polish as a Foreign Language elective module. It introduces non-Polish students to Polish language in general and aspects of communication in Polish as a foreign language in particular.

Course objectives

• listening to simple statements (dialogues, short monologues), simple questions, tips and instructions,

• understanding the general content of simple written texts,

• participating in simple communication situations, expressing basic intentions, brief information about oneself, the environment, other people, etc.,

• pronunciation of Polish sounds,

• writing learned words and sentences, providing your own personal data.

Grammar issues:

Alphabet

Conjugation of verbs: być, nazywać się, mieć, pracować, iść, jechać, gotować, lubić, kupować, robić, spać, pić in the singular form

Singular instrumental

Grammatical genders of nouns and adjectives in the singular

Numbers 0-1000

Demonstrative pronouns

Interrogative pronouns

Accusative of nouns and adjectives in the singular

Possessive pronouns

Methods of teaching/forms of instruction:

communicative approach = work with authentic materials, practical exercises, dialogues, discussions in pairs and groups, simulations, role-plays, communication games and activities, pre-communication exercises, the use of various media, training in the development of individual skills, exercises with the information gap.

3. has the basic ability to communicate in Polish as a foreign language in various situational contexts, including public communication in the field of general (m-U-1)

4. can use Polish as a foreign language at A1 level (m-U-2)

5. shapes their own views on the basis of the gained general and detailed knowledge of the Polish language area (m-K-1/P6S_KR)

Forms of evaluation of learning outcomes

1. Active participation in classes (performing class assignments) - 45% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4,5,6)

2. End of semester oral test - 55% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4,5,6)
