Skrócony opis: |
The course provides students with knowledge related to culture and typologies of cultures and builds students’ intercultural competences based on the knowledge of specific ways of nonverbal and verbal communication in different cultures. Moreover, the objectives are focused on enriching students’ knowledge related to negative phenomena (eg. racism, religious oppression, micro aggressions, na-tionalism and xenophobia) and improving students’ interpersonal skills with a view to participants’ functioning in various cultural environments. |

The detailed course contents comprises of: Stereotypes, prejudices, discrimination Micro aggressions in intercultural context General concepts of culture Stages of cultural competence (ethnocentrism-ethnorelativism) Dimensions of cultures Dealing with conflict in different cultures Culture shock – reasons, stages and ways of overcoming Nonverbal communication and emotional expression in different cultural contexts Cultural diversity and related issues (ableism, ageism, classism, homophobia, sexism, racism, critical theory of race, xenophobia) |

Knowledge a student: 1. has knowledge on the types of social structures in chosen cultural environments and relations between them (S2A_W03) 2. has deepened knowledge concerning social communication in multicultural context (S2A_W03, S2A_W04) 3. has broad knowledge on a human functioning in different cultural settings (S2A_W05) 4. has deepened knowledge on planning and realizing educational research and projects (S2A_W06) 5. has structured knowledge on ethical norms and principles organizing social structures (S2A_W07) Skills a student: 1. is able to interpret social phenomena and relations between them (S2A_U01) 2. can apply his/her theoretical knowledge to formulate their own opinions and plan research projects related to these phenomena (S2A_U02, S2A_U03) 3. is able to understand, analyze and predict complex social processes using different research methods (S2A_U04, S2A_U08) 4. has the ability to use the systems of norms to solve concrete problems related to various types of social bonds (S2A_U05) 5. is able to prepare the public presentation of the project in English (S2A_U09) Social competences a student: 1. understands the need of constant personal development and updating his/her knowledge (S2A_K01, (S2A_K06) 2. can cooperate within the group, assuming different roles (S2A_K02) 3. can take part in intercultural projects and predicts the results of her/his activity (S2A_K05) |
