(tylko po angielsku) Course Content: the equations of motion of a viscous fluid. The stress tensor. The second and the first viscosity. The Navier-Stokes equation. The dynamic viscosity. The boundary conditions for the viscous fluid. The energy dissipation in an incompressible fluid. Positivity of the first viscosity. Flow in a pipe. Poiseuille’s law. Discharge rate. The law of similarity. The Reynolds number. Steady flow with small Reynolds numbers. The rectilinear and uniform motion of a sphere in a viscous fluid. Stokes’ formula. Stability of steady flow. The critical Reynolds numbers. Laminar and turbulent flow. The drag crisis. The general equation of heat transfer. Thermal conductivity. The rate of increase of entropy due to thermal conduction and internal friction. The equation of thermal conduction for an incompressible fluid at rest. Thermal conduction in an infinite medium.
