Course description Students learn (on MSTeams) to seek (and possibly find) a grain of salt in (not neccessarily American) jokes about the Polish people or about the people from other ethnic groups. In that way they both learn to speak English and to watch the bahavior of Polish people around them (actually or on the internet). Reading texts by D.Brzozowska on the non-ethnic jokes they learn to find both the comic script, oppositions and the target in the jokes discussed. Course description Students learn to seek (and possibly find) a grain of salt in (not neccessarily American) jokes about the Polish people or about the people from other ethnic groups. In that way they both learn to speak English and to watch the bahavior of Polish people around them (actually or on the internet). Reading texts by D.Brzozowska on the non-ethnic jokes they learn to find both the comic script, oppositions and the target in the jokes discussed. They are prepared to decide if a given joke says something true about its target. Forms of evaluation of learning outcomes: 1. Active participation - 60% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4) 2. Digital activities (up to 3 video clip recordings on the course's topics) - 20% each (outcome 2,3,4) 3. Written exam - 40% (of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4) Criteria of evaluation: 60% = 3 80% = 4 100% = 5 |
