Course description The course offers a specialist perspective within the chosen domain: linguistics, media and communications, visual arts or entrepreneurship. Depending on the elective module it concentrates on perspectives and literatures that most productively inform the discipline and which offer tools and categories for further independent reading and analysis. |

Course objectives - familiarising with specialist research in connection to students needs and academic orientations. ------------------ Course content Possible specialist approaches in public communication may include 1. propaganda analysis 2. news values analysis 3. argumentation/rhetorical analysis 4. agenda setting analyis 5. critical (discourse) analysis 6. ideological analysis (feminist, populist) 7. social movement studies 8. multimodal analysis 9. metaphor analysis 10 framing analysis ------------------- Methods of instruction/ forms of classroom activity: Lectures with multimedia presentations and exemplary handouts prepared by the instructor, group and individual analysis of exemplars and discussion, presenting individual projects (20min per participant) and critical response, debate on itdiscussion, powerpoint presentations, text analysis, ICT tools/e-learning MSTeams |

Forms of evaluation of learning outcomes 1. Active class participation, debating and responding to lectures, presentations – 45% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11) 2. A case study analysis/ essay - 55% of the final grade (outcome 3,4,5,7,8,9,10,11) pass at 60% of the final grade |
