Course description This course introduces students to the basics of creative writing via free exploration of different genres and one's writing process. The students develop their composing and creative thinking skills by completing a set of thematically organized worksheets, participating in group activities focused on collaboration and co-authoring, and coming up with non-linear ideas and solutions. |

Course objectives: - developing and practicing creative writing skills - utilizing lateral thinking - becoming comfortable with the writing process - creating an original discourse - self-exploration --------------------------- Course content: 1. Introduction to creative writing 2. Brainstorming techniques 3. Deriving inspiration from common objects 4. Creating characters - writing unique dialogue 5. Fleshing out a short story - establishing setting, plot, conflict, and theme 5. Creating a composition using random words 6. Writing a letter to one's past and future selves 7. Peer feedback sessions - 25% of the final grade(outcomes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5) pass at 60% of the final grade |
