Skrócony opis:	Course description This is a course designated to Translation Studies Module. It gives students practice in sworn translation.
Pełny opis:	Course objectives -familiarising the students with procedures of sworn translation ------------------- Course content • Revision of general translation studies: definitions, notions, concepts, classifications and history. • Certified translation: definitions, notions, concepts, classifications and history. • Certified translation in Poland and in other countries • Elements of a certified translation. Certifying formula and its types. • Principles of certified translation. Language of law: characteristics, in particular terminology of law. • Conference and community interpreting. Court interpreting: consecutive, sight and simultaneous interpreting. Remote interpreting. Interpretation during a trial in criminal procedure. Roles of a sworn translator and court interpreter. • Legal provisions and ethical principles in certified translation. ------------------------ Methods of teaching/forms of classroom activitiy: presentation, text analysis, text translation, discussion, individual work, pair work, ICT tools/e-learning option if needed

Efekty uczenia się:	Learning outcomes acc to PRK 2019 Knowledge Student 1. is familiar with the basic terminology and conceptual framework of translation studies needed for sworn translation (m-W-1/P6S_WG) 2. has a working knowledge of the theoretical approaches to translation and the main research paradigms needed for sworn translation (m-W-2/P6S_WK) Skills Student can 3. search for, analyze, select, and use information related to translation by consulting academic and popular sources and tools, including electronic ones, apply techniques for collecting data, and produce good-quality sworn translations (m-U-1/P6S_UW) 4. analyze target language (TL) translations in relation to their source language (SL) texts and evaluate the former objectively and constructively (m-U-2/P6S_UW) Social competences Student 5. is ready to make responsible and ethical use of translation products and practices in and out of the classroom (m-K-1/P6S_KR)
Metody i kryteria oceniania:	Forms of evaluation of learning outcomes: 1. Active participation in classes - 30 % of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4,5) 2. Preparation of sworn translations of various documents - 40% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4) 3. Legal vocabulary tests - 30 % of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4) pass at 60% of the final grade
