As a result of surveys carried out to study various phenomenons occurring in nature a number of different parameters can be determined. Results of observation and measurement results supported by appropriate data analysis provide an information about current state of the natural environment but also enables prediction of future condition or discovers information from the past. Selection of appropriate statistical methods applied in data analysis plays a crucial role, because results of formally correct computations can lead to erroneous or delusive conclusions.

In the course the following topics will be discussed during lectures and then analyzed during computer exercises: selected methods of multidimensional data elaboration, elements of spatial and temporal data analysis, elements of linear model construction, and basics of compositional data analysis. The concepts will be demonstrated during lectures and analyzed by Participants using R language. Participants are expected to possess basic skills in statistics at start of this course.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

completion of a report, participation in training, participation in lecture
