  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;

  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;

Short description:

The course aims to develop students' abilities in reading, writing, listening and speaking in an academic context.It is designed to enable students to use English effectively in the academic contexts. The main emphasis is on improving students’ confidence and competence in using English.

Full description:

At the completion of the course, students will be able to:

Use academic listening strategies: prediction, identification of main ideas

and specific details, note-taking

Verbally connect ideas in paragraph like discourse

Find the meaning of new and academic vocabulary in context and extend that meaning

Write structured paragraphs, using topic sentences, supporting ideas and relevant evidence

3. know the formal properties and application of various genres and conventional practices in academic communication (k-W-1, k-W-7)

Students can:

write a coherent essay in English, using a range of sources (k-U-6)

Students:

fluently speak and write in English (at B1 level) (k-K-1)

are well-organized and reliable as far as group and individual work is concerned (k-K-5)
