(tylko po angielsku) The aim of the course is to acquaint students with specialist theoretical and methodological knowledge within the scope of a selected diploma seminar (linguistics, literary studies, cultural studies) in order to prepare them for writing a BA thesis. Students learn the style, formal requirements and theoretical concepts connected with writing BA theses. In the summer semester they write their diploma papers following proper formal and stylistic principles. |

(tylko po angielsku) Students are required to submit regularly parts of their BA theses. They write their papers following chosen MLA/APA standards. They are to write a theoretical part on the basis of selected methodological approach and an analytical one, presenting their examination and interpretation of selected materials. |

(tylko po angielsku) k-W-2 the place and significance of philological science among humanities and social sciences, its nature and its methodological difference and the directions of its development k-W-3 theories, methodology and general and detailed terminology of linguistics, literature and culture studies k-W-4 methods of analysis and interpretation of texts and culture products, within selected traditions, theories and research schools in linguistics, literature and culture studies k-W-5 fundamental dilemmas of modern philology in terms of its research and application for solving social problems k-W-6 the basic economic, legal and other considerations, and concepts connected with philological research and its application UMIEJĘTNOŚCI k-U-1 use their philological knowledge - formulate and solve complex and unusual problems concerning the use of language as well as linguistic, literature and cultural knowledge, and perform tasks in not fully predictable conditions thanks to proper selection of sources and information drawn from them, evaluation, critical analysis and synthesis of that information k-U-2 formulate and analyse research problems, choose methods and tools for solving them, using knowledge of linguistics, literature and culture studies (with the possibility of taking into account the knowledge of related sciences) k-U-3 recognize texts and other creations of culture and carry out their critical analysis and interpretation with the use of standard philological methods allowing for an assessment of their relevance and impact in the historical and cultural process k-U-5 take part in a debate - present and evaluate different opinions and positions in terms of philology and discuss them KOMPETENCJE SPOŁECZNE k-K-1 critically assess their philological knowledge and recognize the importance of knowledge of the language in solving cognitive practical problems k-K-2 fulfil social obligations to and co-organise actions for social environment, initiate actions for public interest, think and act resourcefully k-K-4 participate in cultural life and use its various forms |

Teacher evaluates students' BA theses in terms of content, application of MLA/APA rules, formal requirements of the department. |
