- The task of the course is to raise student`s language C1 fluency (according to the criteria suggested by CEFR for lan-guages) in terms of raising the level of understanding reading and listening texts. - Being able to deal successfully with CAE reading and listening techniques used for different exercises. - Raising the level of the reading and listening skills to the level that will allow the students to pass final 2nd year practical exam in the field. Improving student`s language fluency at C1 level as regards the skills of listening and reading. Within listening comprehension: understanding informative monologues, conversations held by two or three people, short abstracts presenting one matter. Within reading comprehension: different forms of texts in which a student has to find out or match particular elements of information. The course includes the usage of ICT tools and e-learning option. |

Efekty uczenia się: |
Knowledge Graduate knows: 1. the techniques, the methodology, and the rules behind the techniques, that are used to test listening and reading knowledge at C1 level (k-W-1,k-W-3, k-W-4). Skills Graduate can: 2. comprehend listening and reading texts in English (relative to C1 level) to identify the general points and to find specific information in authentic texts (k-U-1); 3. analyse a text using techniques of synthesis, discrimination, matching, and elimination (k-U-2) 4. work autonomously to solve reading and listening tasks at C1 level of CAE test (k-U-8). Social competences Graduate: 5. can recognise the level of proficiency of reading and listening texts and is able to understand them to a satisfactory level using different technique like: discrimination, deducing from context, eliminating, etc.(k-K-1); 6. is able to take actions to develop own professional knowledge by preparing in-class individual tasks, and home-tasks (k-K-3, k-K-5). |
Metody i kryteria oceniania: |
Form of evaluation - class participation: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 - one in-class task: 1, 3, 4, 5, 6 - one homework: 1, 4, 6 Criteria of evaluation - two tests (mid and end of semester) - 60% - one in-class task (designing a reading exercise based on a chosen CAE testing technique) 20% - one homework (designing a listening exercise based on a chosen CAE testing technique) 20% Final marks are granted according to the following framework: grade 2,0 (fail): 0–54% grade 3,0 (average): 55–62% grade 3,5 (plus average): 63–70% grade 4,0 (good): 71–80% grade 4,5 (plus good): 81–90% grade 5,0 (very good): 91–100% |
