(tylko po angielsku) Course description The course is designed to develop students' C1-level writing skills. It introduces advanced writing, and advanced grammar and business vocabulary activities. It aims at preparing students to face communication challenged in their future professional careers. ECTS points in relation to student’s duties 1 ECTS point – 30 hours of classes 1 ECTS point – 20 hours of preparation to in-class writing sessions; 5 hours of tutorial and counselling sessions (during office hours) Contact: tgadzina@uni.opole.pl |

(tylko po angielsku) Course objectives The aim of the course is to familiarise students with and give practical advice on how to write business and commercial correspondence, compose letters, faxes, e-mails, reports, memos, CVs and covering letters, among others. Students will be provided with practical help in writing and editing business correspondence, like orders, enquiries, invoices and payments, complaints and adjustments. Additionally, the course explains how to write clearly and effectively in English (on C1 proficiency level). Course content Business writing: Style and content, letters, faxes, emails, enquiries, orders, payments, transport arrangements, complaints and adjustments, banking documents. |

Efekty uczenia się: |
(tylko po angielsku) Knowledge Graduate knows how to: 1. recognize and compare formal and informal style of business correspondence (k-W-4, s-W-1), 2. match structures with corresponding forms of correspondence and logically arrange arguments to maintain coherence (s-W-1), 3. choose appropriate layout, style and grammatical and semantic structures to match a particular type of writing (s-W-1), 4. have the knowledge of social, economic, political and cultural institutions, and be acquainted with the current cultural life of the countries of the English speaking area (k-W-6, s-W-2), 5. have the knowledge of intellectual and industrial copyright laws (k-W-7). Skills Graduate can: 1. apply the rules of written business communication in practice and use appropriate methods and tools to prepare specific documents (k-U-2, s-U-1) 2. seek, analyse, assess, select and use information from written sources (s-U-1), 3. carry on both electronic and traditional correspondence with the use of advanced information and communication techniques (ICT) (k-U-1, s-U-2), 4. use the English language in writing with relative fluency, accuracy and communication efficiency in a wide range of business topics (k-U-6, s-U-2). Social competences Graduate is ready to: 1. critically assess their philological knowledge and recognize the importance of knowledge of the language in solving practical problems (k-K-1), 2. pay particular attention to vocational work ethics (k-K-3), 3. be able to properly determine priorities in order to deal with the task designated by others (s-K-1), 4. shape their views on the basis of their general knowledge acquired during studies (s-K-2). |
