Full description:

This course is designed for the 2nd year students who desire to speak Chinese accurately. The students can choose between standard Chinese accent (mainly used in Mainland China with ‘r’ sound) or Taiwanese accent (without ‘r’ sound). The course uses teacher-designed Power Points to introduce vocabulary and phrases. Pinyin and traditional characters are used. Chinese character recognisation, accurate pronunciation, including tones, are the main focuses for this semester. Apart from in-class practice, students are assigned tasks of written practice, which are specially designed materials prepared by the teacher based on students’ level.
