  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Short description:

The course is designed to raise students’ language proficiency at C1 level according to the criteria suggested by CEFR for languages) as regards:

- appropriate usage of grammar structures

- appropriate usage of English style in writing and reading.

Full description:

The course introduces grammatical knowledge with particular emphasis on stylistics. Basing on a selection of exercises focusing on a particular grammatical or stylistic issue, the students learn to combine meaning propositions in simple sentences into information bits in complex grammatical sentences. The course starts with introducing students to style, such as parallelism, linking words and phrases. Further, it proceeds to more complex grammar issues, such as for example, adverbials, grammatical tenses, etc.

The course includes the usage of ICT tools and e-learning option.

1. English at C1 level in terms of grammatical, lexical and stylistic rules of correct usage, as well as of various registers to be used appropriately to social contexts (k-W-1),

2. complexity and evolution of linguistic systems and meanings (k-W-1).

3. use spoken and written English (relative to C1 level) correctly, fluently and effectively to discuss a variety of topics related to the condition of the individual in the modern society or to current issues (k-U-6).

4. fluently speak and competently write in English (at C1 level) (k-K-1),

5. cooperate with others in a team, assuming various roles (k-K-2)

6. be well-organized and reliable as regards assignments (k-K-5).

Participation in classroom activities – 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
