ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 3.00 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;

Short description:

Course description:

The course is a continuation of Academic writing 1 and focuses on deepening the students’ knowledge and academic writing skills including quoting and reference-making (according to MLA/APA guidelines), summarizing, paraphrasing and synthesizing academic texts in accordance with worldwide standards for published research.

- developing advanced academic writing skills

- practicing academic referencing skills (MLA/APA)

- practicing academic discourse

1. The formal properties and conventions of academic writing

2. Selected stylesheet guidelines (APA, MLA)

Forms of evaluation of learning outcomes:

1. Active participation in classes - 20% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,7,8)

2. Evaluation of the style, form and content of BA theses - 80% of the final grade (outcomes 1,2,3,4,5,6)
