Course description: The course in English for Specific Purposes 1 focuses on introducing the student to a variety of specialist English texts, e.g. economic, technical, financial, medical, legal, etc. During the course, students analyse and study challenging forms of written English, syntax structures and phrasal verbs. Half of the course is dedicated to introducing the students to Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) |

Course objectives - to familiarize students with various types of English texts, improve their comprehension skills and enrich the newly acquired vocabulary. - to familiarise students with Enterprise Resource Planning ----------------- Course content: Half of the course - dedicated to English for specific purposes - depends on the teacher's choice of texts introducing Half of the course - dedicated to ERP - follows the topics listed below: - Functioning of enterprises using ERP systems; the essence of ERP systems, business benefits resulting from the implementation of ERP systems, company resources managed by the ERP system - Areas of activity and business processes supported by ERP systems, organization types, organization goals, functions in organizations, business processes in organizations, their definitions and modeling - A tool supporting the work of an enterprise: office suites, cooperation platforms, ERP systems, and other systems for managing the areas of the organization's activity, such as DMS, CRM and others. - MS Dynamics 365 system interface, system navigation, workspaces and modules, system settings and user options - Organizational chart of the company and the use of the global address book, overview of the roles of units, configuration of the new address book - Compatibility of office software with ERP class systems, integration with MS Office package, creating templates -------------- Methods of instruction/ forms of classroom activity: - material analysis, discussion, pair-work activities, ICT tools/ MSTeams, MSDynamics 365. |

Learning outcomes acc to PQK 2019 Knowledge Students know and understand 1. position and importance of the English language used for specific purposes in various fields (e.g. business, culture, economy, information technology, law, media, politics, science and sociology) (k_W01/P6S_WG) 2. vocabulary, grammar, structures and stylistics in English at C1 level; technical, specialist and official (formal) English used for specific purposes (k_W02/P6S_WG) 3. principles of operation of the MS Dynamics system as an ERP class system for performing specialized tasks in the field of enterprise resource management (k_W09/P6S_WK) Skills Students can 4. use different phrases, structures and stylistic rules for specific purposes to complete formal tasks both in writing and orally (k_U01/P6S_UW) 5. be innovative in solving problems through proper selection, evaluation and analysis of the obtained information in English for specific purposes (k_U02/P6S_UW) 6. evaluate economic phenomena using the functionalities available in the ERP class system (k_U10/ P6S_UW) 7. adapt the work environment in the MS Dynamics 365 system to their own needs resulting from the type of tasks performed (k_U11/P6S_UW) Social competences Students are ready to 8. undertake individual and team activities (k_K07/P6S_KR) 9. critically appraise and solve problems arising from the implementation of tasks; act in stressful situations, like giving presentations (k_K02 P6S_KK) 10. respect the rights of various entities when making decisions regarding the management of enterprise resources and the order of task implementation (k_K03/P6S_KR) |

Forms of evaluation of learning outcomes: 1. Active participation/presentations in class - 25% of the final grade (outcome: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) 2. Formative assessment (in class activities)- 25% of the final grade (outcome: 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) 3. Summative assessment (test) - 50% of the final grade (outcomes 2,3,6,9) Scoring used in tests: grade 2,0 (fail): 0–49% grade 3,0 (average): 50–60% grade 3,5 (plus average): 61–70% grade 4,0 (good): 71–80% grade 4,5 (plus good): 81–90% grade 5,0 (very good): 91–100% |
